As the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF-PL) prepares to resume on May 12, coaches are facing a daunting task of getting their players fit in time.

Local sporting activities were suspended on March 26 to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, and teams have been out of action for over a month.

According to a spot-check by Nation Sport, most teams have not resumed group training, with league leaders Tusker, AFC Leopards, Posta Rangers, Nzoia Sugar, and Zoo FC yet to start training.

AFC Leopards assistant coach Tom Juma expressed concerns about the short preparation time, saying, "In my opinion, it is a very little time to prepare, considering that teams have been out for more than a month. Marshalling the players together and making them jell well requires time."

On the other hand, Posta's team manager John Terry said his team is ready to continue with their resurgence in the league, as the players have been training individually at home.

As the teams scramble to get fit, the pressure is mounting on the FKF to provide more time for preparation.
