On May 4, 2021, the Federation of Kenya Football (FKF) announced that Zoo FC had been punished for match fixing in the Premier League.
The Fifa Ethics committee had found the Kericho-based side guilty of manipulating football matches and competitions.
According to FKF, the club's players had been accused of putting stakes on betting platforms ahead of their matches, thereby manipulating the outcome.
FKF stated that they had expelled Zoo FC from the 2020/2021 FKF Premier League season and relegated them to the FKF Division One League for the 2021/2022 season.
Club Chairman Ken Ochieng had raised concerns over the rampant match fixing claims associated with the club, alleging that the results posted by the Club were suspicious and calling on the relevant bodies to investigate.
He also questioned the lavish lifestyles of his players, arguing that the vice was deeply rooted in the league.
