Published on May 4, 2021, Samsung has confirmed that it is ending support for the Galaxy S8, a device launched in 2017.
The final update is being rolled out to the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, while the Galaxy S8 Active and Galaxy S8 Lite will continue to receive support for the next year, albeit with reduced frequency.
This move comes as Samsung has committed to supporting its devices for longer periods, a significant improvement from its previous practices.
Notably, Samsung has stated that its devices from 2019 will be supported for up to 4 years, surpassing many OEMs, including Google's Pixel line.
The Galaxy S8 was a well-received device, praised for its display and design. It remains one of Samsung's best-designed S-series devices.
