On May 4, 2021, Kiambu Governor James Nyoro revealed that the tarmacking of the remaining three-kilometer Juja town-Juja farm road would be completed in two weeks.
The road, which is part of a six-kilometer stretch launched by State Department of Infrastructure Principal Secretary Paul Maringa in November at a cost of Ksh 3.9 billion, has already been graded and the drainage system dug.
According to Nyoro, funding challenges and the rainy season had delayed their targeted projection deadline of April.
However, with several graders on site grading and levelling the road, and a proper drainage system dug on either side of the road, residents are optimistic that the road will eventually be tarmacked.
“Before going to the mini polls on May 18, the three kilometers will be completed. The other stretch will be completed three months later,” said Nyoro.
Residents, including Jack Mwangi, expressed their gratitude for the progress made so far and urged the authorities to fast-track the completion of the remaining three kilometers.
