On May 4, 2021, a Kajiado court granted the police's request to remand a man accused of killing his wife for 21 days.
Corporal Stephen Kyalo, representing the police, asked the court to give them more time to collect statements from witnesses, obtain post-mortem results, and get a psychiatrist's report from Mathare Hospital.
The suspect, Rinard Kamerino Allan, is accused of killing his wife, Cynthia Chepsang Chepkuto, on May 1, 2021, within Sina Estate in Kajiado town.
According to the police, the murder was reported by neighbours who heard a commotion coming from the couple's house and later followed by a deafening silence.
The neighbours reported the matter to the village elder, Richard Lemayian, who found the house locked from the outside.
Upon opening the house, Cynthia's body was found wrapped in bedsheets and lying on the floor, next to it was a bottle allegedly used to kill her.
The court heard that after preliminary investigations, police found that Kamerino attempted to discard the body but failed.
He resorted to fleeing from the scene but was later apprehended by the police on the same day.
