TIME magazine has released its annual list of the 100 Most Influential Companies in the world, and Kenyan data analytics company Gro Intelligence is among the honorees. The list, published on May 4, 2021, recognizes companies that are shaping the future and making a significant impact globally.
Gro Intelligence, founded in Nairobi in 2014, is listed under the 'Innovators' category alongside other notable companies like Stripe, Netflix, Zoom, and Spotify. The company's AI-powered platform aggregates and models complex data to provide insights on the inter-relationships between food, climate, trade, agriculture, and macro-economic conditions.
With over 40,000 data sets and processing north of 650 trillion data points, Gro Intelligence's platform serves a wide range of customers, including governments, financial institutions, agricultural input companies, retailers, food and beverage companies, and industry participants.
Other African tech startups, such as Nigerian fintech company Flutterwave, also made the list, recognized in the 'Pioneers' section. The annual list features leading firms worldwide, divided into five categories – Pioneers, Leaders, Innovators, Disruptors, and Titans.
