On 4 May 2021, President Uhuru Kenyatta revised containment measures in five counties that had been under lockdown, a move lauded by the Church and Clergy Association of Kenya.
According to the Church, the revised measures have been effective in reducing the spread of COVID-19, as evident from the significant drop in positivity rate.
CCAK Chairperson Bishop Hudson Ndeda expressed gratitude for the decision, stating, "We welcome the partial opening of places of worship. In future we expect broader consultations on matters involving the Church to mitigate the negative impacts closure of Churches has on members and Kenyans at large."
Bishop Ndeda also commended the Government's efforts in the fight against COVID-19, emphasizing the importance of observing protocols such as social distancing, wearing facemasks, and sanitizing.
He further urged politicians to learn from the Church's example, conducting meetings online and discouraging political rallies that could contribute to the spread of the virus.
Regarding school reopening, Bishop Ndeda emphasized the need for parents and teachers to ensure the safety of children by reminding them of preventive measures.
He also highlighted the importance of safeguarding the well-being of Grade 4 pupils, who will be returning to school in July.
