Kenyan artiste Avril Nyambura has spoken about her motherhood journey, revealing that it's the best thing that's happened to her.
Published on May 4, 2021, Avril shared that she had been ready to be a mother for five years before she finally conceived.
Speaking during an interview, Avril said, 'I was very ready to be a mum. I HAD BEEN READY 5 years before I became one.'
She explained that she had been looking for someone stable in her life to share the responsibility of raising a child with, and when the person she was dating came into her life, the situation felt right.
Avril also opened up about the challenges of being a working mother, saying, 'Pressure, and stress, You should respect mothers.'
She shared that it was only when her son was a day old that she realized she no longer had a say in everything, and that it would always be about him now that he depends on her fully.
Avril also talked about the sleep deprivation she experienced in the beginning, saying she was a 'walking zombie' because she couldn't get enough sleep.
Despite the challenges, Avril said that being a mother has given her a purpose and made her more responsible.
Her son is now three years old.
