Published on May 3, 2021, Kenya has recorded 137 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 1,641 tested in the last 24 hours, with the country's positivity rate now at 8.3%.
Of the new cases, 129 are Kenyans while 8 are foreigners, with 80 being males and 57 being females. The youngest is a 14-year-old child, while the oldest is 97 years old.
Health Cabinet Secretary Senator Mutahi Kagwe noted that the total confirmed positive cases are now 160,559 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 1,681,420.
The distribution of positive cases by age is as follows: 0-9 years (2), 10-19 years (6), 20-29 years (16), 30-39 years (39), 40-49 years (24), 50-59 years (21), 60 and above (29).
County-wise, Nairobi has 70 cases, Uasin Gishu has 22 cases, Kericho has 9 cases, Mombasa has 8 cases, and so on.
Health CS Kagwe also announced that 216 patients have recovered from the disease, with 170 from Home Based and Isolation Care, while 46 are from various health facilities countrywide.
Sadly, 18 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours, with 9 having occurred on diverse dates within the last one month, while 9 are late death reports from facility record audits.
As of now, a total of 887,034 persons have so far been vaccinated against the COVID-19 disease countrywide.
