On May 2, 2021, a disturbing incident of domestic violence occurred in Kakamega County, where a 31-year-old woman was assaulted by her husband, a police officer based at Kabras police station.

The woman, who is currently admitted at Royo Hospital in Malava town, claimed that her husband attacked her while inquiring about the whereabouts of their family car.

According to the victim, this was not the first time her husband had assaulted her, and she expressed concern about the lack of action taken by authorities in the past.

Confirming the incident, Kakamega North Police Commander Paul Mwenda stated that the matter is under investigation.

He assured the public that if the allegations are true, the officer will face consequences and the hospital bill will be cleared.

A clinical officer at the hospital revealed that the woman was admitted with vaginal bleeding and unfortunately lost her pregnancy as a result of the assault.
