Published on August 26, 2020, singer Esther Akoth, aka Akothee, has shared her divorce experience, highlighting the devastating effects it had on her children.
According to Akothee, divorce is never a good thing, especially when children are involved, as it can affect them in many ways. She tried to shield her kids from seeing their father as an enemy, a task that was not easy.
Despite the struggles she faced after the divorce, Akothee's children never saw her tears, but only learned about her struggles much later in life. She emphasized that divorce is worse than death, especially when children are involved.
Akothee also revealed that she made sure all the men she dated after her divorce loved her kids equally, buying them gifts every time her other children's fathers came to visit. She forced every man in her life to love her children equally, but never asked them to call any of them 'daddy' until her youngest child was born.
However, Akothee acknowledged that it was difficult at times when her children insisted on talking to their father, knowing he had moved on with another family. She took them out every weekend, trying to create happy memories for them.
