According to reports, Clarkson sent at least 18 text messages to the woman, inviting her to visit his home, with some messages including emojis and playful language.
Clarkson claimed in his resignation letter that the invitations were extended to the woman's children, but she politely declined.
However, the messages revealed a close but unprofessional relationship between Clarkson and the woman, with Clarkson seeking to explain his actions as a result of their workplace rapport.
Clarkson acknowledged that the messages were wrong to send due to the disparity in their workplace rank and that he should have maintained a more distanced and professional relationship.
