The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) witnessed a significant surge in daily turnover on August 25th, 2020, with the figure more than trebling to KSh 854.49 Million.
This marked a substantial increase from the previous day's turnover of KSh 260.9 Million on August 24th, 2020, which was achieved on a volume of 10.97 Million shares traded in 829 deals.
The NSE All-Share Index rose 1.03% to 133.89 points, while the NSE 20 Share Index declined by 0.30% to 1743.08.
Safaricom was the biggest mover, with a volume of 17.70 Million shares worth KSh 506.81 Million traded in 207 deals, with foreign investors participating in 61.8% of the deals.
The share price of Safaricom rose from KSh 28.20 to close at KSh 28.65.
Other notable movers included Kenya Re, Co-operative Bank, Equity, and NCBA, while Longhorn Publishers was the top gainer, with its share price rising 6.21% to KSh 4.79.
