Kenyan smartphone buyers have a reason to smile as Huawei Mobile Kenya has launched a two-week promotion offering free accessories to buyers of its budget smartphones.
The promotion, which started on August 25, 2020, and runs through to September 6, 2020, includes the Huawei Y5p, Y6p, Y7p, Y8p, and Nova 7i, all of which were made available in the Kenyan market this year.
Buyers of any of these devices will also receive free gifts such as Bluetooth headsets, in addition to the free accessories.
According to Huawei, the devices will be sold at their market prices, which remain unchanged from their launch prices over the last few months.
The Huawei Nova 7i, for instance, is still going for Kshs 30,000, while the Huawei Y5p, Y6p, Y7p, and Y8p are going for Kshs 9,800, Kshs 15,000, Kshs 18,500, and Kshs 25,000 respectively.
It is worth noting that the Huawei devices do not come with Google mobile services, such as Gmail, the Google Play Store, YouTube, and Maps, out of the box, but instead offer Huawei's own mobile services, with workarounds available to access Google services.
Huawei's focus in the Kenyan market has been on budget smartphones over the last two years, side-stepping the pricier flagship series P and Mate smartphones for the Y and Nova series, which cater to the majority of Kenyan smartphone buyers.
