Coastal Police Officer Dies After Falling in His House

On August 24, 2020, Alfred Jillo, a deputy police officer in charge of the Gamba station in Tana River County, tragically passed away after falling in his house.

According to Tana River County Police Commander Fredrick Ochieng, Mr. Jillo succumbed to head injuries while receiving treatment at the Malindi Sub-county Hospital on Monday evening.

Mr. Ochieng explained that the officer was initially rushed to Garsen Health Centre for treatment after his wife reported a falling incident.

However, his condition worsened at 2am, prompting his wife to seek help from his colleagues at the station.

“On arrival at the Garsen Health Centre, they were advised to rush him to Malindi Level Four Hospital for advanced treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries,” said Mr. Ochieng.

The body of the officer is lying at the Malindi Hospital awaiting a post-mortem.

The incident has raised questions and concerns within the police force and the community.
