Former Likoni MP Masoud Mwahima, a 78-year-old political heavyweight in the Coast region, has passed away due to asthma complications.
According to his son Juma Mwahima, the former legislator was taken to St Thomas Hospital on Sunday where he was treated and discharged, but unfortunately, his condition worsened.
“Mzee was suffering from asthma and we took him to hospital where he was treated and discharged,” said Juma, describing his father's final days.
Mwahima, who served as Likoni MP for two terms from 2007 to 2017 on an ODM ticket, had a long and distinguished career in politics. He previously held the positions of Mombasa Mayor and Shikaadabu Councillor.
His death comes three weeks after that of former Chamgamwe MP Ramadhan Seif Kajembe, with whom he served in Parliament.
Mwahima will be buried later in the day at his Vyemani home in accordance with Islamic rites.
