On August 25, 2020, Safaricom introduced Okoa Mpesa, a new service that allows Mpesa users to borrow money in case of emergencies.

With Okoa Mpesa, users can borrow up to Ksh.200 in minutes, providing a much-needed financial lifeline in times of need.

According to Safaricom, users can qualify for Okoa Mpesa by increasing their Mpesa transactions, which raises their credit score and increases their borrowing limit.

To sign up for Okoa Mpesa, users simply need to dial 898# and follow the prompts.

Once registered, users can access the borrowed amount and repay it within three days, with interest.

With Okoa Mpesa, Safaricom aims to provide a convenient and accessible way for Mpesa users to manage their finances and avoid running out of cash at Mpesa agents.
