On August 25, 2020, a tragic incident shook the community when Nairobi businessman Kevin Omwenga was shot and killed at his home in Kilimani.
Former political aspirant Steve Mbogo took to social media to pay tribute to his friend, Kevin Omwenga, who was declared dead after being shot in the chest.
Mbogo's heartfelt message read: 'I still can't believe you are gone bro… Gone too soon Kelvin Omwenga… You were amongst the few Real gentlemen I know bro… you will forever live in Us.. Shine on your way Brother … R.I.P.'
Two men, Chris Obure and Robert Ouko, have been arrested in connection with Omwenga's murder. Ouko claimed the shooting was accidental, stating that the gun went off when he was about to leave Omwenga's bedroom.
According to Ouko, he and Omwenga were friends and had been together at an entertainment joint in Kilimani before going to Ngara to pick up a Tanzanian lady. Ouko alleged that Omwenga borrowed his gun for 'show-off purposes' and that the gun discharged a round through Omwenga's left side of his chest.
However, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, and the police investigation is ongoing.
