A couple's 12-year marriage has been put to the test after the husband sparked a huge argument with his wife over her new job.

According to the husband, he is entitled to half of his wife's income, as he has always contributed to the family's joint bank account.

He explained that he works while his wife is a stay-at-home mum, and his earnings go into the joint account for them to use as they wish.

However, his wife disagreed, saying that her paycheck is extra money she earns for herself, and not part of the family's income.

After the argument, the husband took to Reddit to ask if he was in the wrong, but was met with unanimous support from the commenters.

One commenter wrote, "She literally took the old joke 'what's mine is mine, and what's yours is ours'."

Another said, "You've had a 'single pot of money' for your whole married life, that doesn't change because now two people are contributing to it."
