On August 25, 2020, Caritas Microfinance Bank made history by becoming the 47th member of the Kenya Bankers Association (KBA). This milestone was made possible by a 2013 amendment that allowed the body to incorporate other institutions, including deposit-taking microfinance institutions and the representative offices of foreign-based banks.
Caritas Microfinance Bank, which was launched in June 2016, operates six branches and 60 banking agents across Kenya. The microfinance bank offers a range of products, including current and savings accounts, term loans, asset finance, LPO finance, and foreign exchange solutions.
Caritas joins other microfinance institutions such as Kenya Post Office Savings Bank (Post Bank), KWFT, Faulu, and Rafiki Microfinance, who also joined the KBA after the 2013 amendment.
