On August 25, 2020, the German Development Cooperation launched the Empowering Entrepreneurship Initiative to support young, innovative businesses in emerging markets.

Derived from a number of their portfolio products, the initiative provides a unique blend of resources, including mentoring, workshops, network building, and funding, tailored to the specific needs of each business.

With a focus on emerging and developing countries, the initiative aims to empower entrepreneurs to develop innovative solutions to local problems, create jobs, unlock potential for growth, and become role models and pillars of their societies.

The COVID-19 pandemic poses a significant threat to the growth and sustainability of these businesses, highlighting the need for fast and direct support to provide resources, mentoring, and financial assistance.

Building on existing support programmes in Germany and adapting them to local contexts, the initiative aims to efficiently and effectively support founders and their businesses to sustain and grow through this challenging time.

The Empowering Entrepreneurship Initiative represents a modern approach to development cooperation, focused on sustained economic growth and the empowerment of entrepreneurs in emerging markets.
