Former Likoni MP Masoud Mwahima passed away on August 24, 2020, at his home in Vyemani, Likoni sub-county, Mombasa, at around 11 p.m.
According to his family, Mwahima died due to asthma-related complications, just days after receiving treatment at St Thomas Hospital on Sunday.
His son recalled the tragic incident, stating, "He was okay when we brought him back. However, today night when we were seated outside our home, there was a long silence and we went to check on him, only to find him dead."
Mwahima had previously filed a petition challenging the 2017 election results, which saw him lose to incumbent MP Mishi Mboko in a disputed poll.
However, in March 2018, the High Court in Mombasa upheld Mboko's election, citing minor irregularities but stating that they did not affect the outcome of the elections.
