The Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK) has taken a significant step towards digitalization by fully operationalizing its E-filing portal on September 1, 2020. This move marks the end of physical applications, and all technical services, including filing merger and exemption applications, registering restrictive trade practices, abuse of buyer power, and consumer complaints, will now be processed through the E-filing portal.
As announced by CAK on August 24, 2020, the automation of its technical services has improved efficiency by reducing the time taken to process files. The E-filing portal has also enabled stakeholders to track the status of their applications in real-time, enhancing transparency and accountability.
CAK's E-filing portal has been in use since July 1, 2019, and has been processing applications through the Case Management Systems (CMS). The Authority's mandate is to promote effective competition in markets and prevent misleading market conduct throughout Kenya.
CAK's move towards digitalization is a significant step towards improving the efficiency and effectiveness of its services. The E-filing portal is a key component of this effort, and it is expected to benefit both the Authority and the public it serves.
