On August 25, 2020, Microsoft Teams made significant strides in the video conferencing space by introducing new features on Android and iOS devices, making it a strong contender to Zoom.
The latest updates include the ability to upload images to the gallery and search within chats and channels on Android. Additionally, users can now generate links for free meeting invites to share with others who do not have a Teams account.
On iOS, Microsoft has updated the app to version 2.0.19, featuring improvements such as the ability to see eight participants at once and an agenda view of upcoming meetings. Users can also edit and share content with other participants.
Furthermore, iOS users now have an update that reduces data usage while video conferencing is in progress.
Microsoft's aggressive push for Office 365 adoption contributed to Teams' growth, surpassing Zoom users in the video conferencing space with a 894% increase, compared to Zoom's 677% growth.
Teams has continued to enhance its user experience and target a broader audience with regular updates. Last week, it introduced a user Voice Forum, allowing users to customize their left sidebar and pin/unpin apps for easy access.
