On August 23, 2020, Gor Mahia fans in Kisumu vowed to tame hooliganism in their fan-base, a move aimed at ensuring the club's prosperity in the new KPL season.
Speaking in a consultative meeting, Kisumu City Fans CBO Chairman Vincent Otieno emphasized the need for peace and friendship among fans, stating that hooliganism has been a major factor chasing away sponsors.
“Kisumu City is united towards seeing Gor Mahia prosper. We want the best for our club and that is why we are calling upon all fans across the country to end hooliganism and embrace peace and friendship ahead of a busy season ahead,” Otieno said.
As part of their efforts to uplift each other, the fans also discussed ways of starting small businesses and small-scale farming for self-development, with the aim of ending suffering among fans and improving their living standards.
Furthermore, the group donated face masks to the vulnerable in the city, calling on well-wishers and fans to continue giving any form of assistance to help the branch reach out and assist as many families as possible at this time of need.
