Autopsy Reveals Details of Kelvin Omwenga's Death

Businessman Kelvin Omwenga was shot once in the chest, according to an autopsy conducted on his body. The bullet tore through his heart, causing internal bleeding and leading to the collapse of his left lung.

Chief government pathologist Johansen Oduor said the bullet came out through Omwenga's back on the left side after going through his vital organs, including his heart. Oduor noted that the injuries were fatal, and Omwenga would have had little chance of survival even if he had received medical attention immediately.

The shooting occurred at Galana Residential Suites in Nairobi's Kilimani Estate, where Omwenga was allegedly shot by his friend Robert Ouko. Ouko has been detained along with businessman Chris Phillip Obure, who owns the firearm used in the shooting.

Police are reviewing CCTV footage from two buildings in the area, including offices of a company known as Glo-Jet at Senteu Plaza, where the firearm was recovered. The investigation is ongoing, with detectives yet to obtain any previous crime records of the suspects, take their fingerprints and DNA samples, or perform phone analysis.

The suspects have opposed their detention, arguing that they cannot interfere with the investigation since the CCTV footage and firearm are in police custody. Their lawyers, Kennedy Arum and Prof Patrick Lumumba, dismissed the prosecution's statement that their clients were arrested yet they had presented themselves to the police.
