On Monday, a 12-member Senate team met in a closed-door session to discuss the contentious revenue sharing formula, but ultimately failed to reach a consensus.

The team, co-chaired by Senators Moses Wetangula and Johnson Sakaja, has been tasked with finding a suitable formula to share the Ksh 316 billion among the 47 counties.

Despite meeting with the Commission on Revenue Allocation and the Treasury, the committee remains divided on the issue.

According to sources, the committee is hopeful that a consensus will be reached by Thursday, but the journey towards finding an acceptable formula appears far from over.

The Senate had planned to sit on Tuesday to discuss the matter, but the deadlock has cast doubt on the sitting.

The committee includes Senators Mutula Kilonzo Jnr, Mahamud Mohamed, Steward Madzayo, Kipchumba Murkomen, Susan Kihika, Samson Cherargei, Moses Kajwang, Anwar Oleitiptip, Ledama Ole Kina, and John Kinyua.
