Zoom Experiences Global Outage, Leaving Users Worldwide Frustrated

On August 24, 2020, at 13:10 BST, Zoom users worldwide reported issues with the platform. According to Down Detector, 70% of users experienced problems logging in, 15% had issues with the website, and 13% were struggling with server connections.

Speaking to Mirror Online, a Zoom spokesperson confirmed that the company is investigating the issue. The spokesperson stated, "We have received reports of users being unable to start and join Zoom Meetings and Webinars. We are currently investigating and will provide updates as we have them. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience."

Several frustrated users took to Twitter to discuss the outage, with one user saying, "Zoom is down I’m so stressed out." Another added, "It’s the first day of fall classes at the university I work for and Zoom appears to be down for my campus. This is going to be a fun day."

Zoom, a video conferencing service, has surged in popularity amid the coronavirus lockdown. At its peak, the platform counted more than 300 million daily participants in virtual meetings, while paying customers have more than tripled.
