On August 24, 2020, Janus Continental Group (JCG), an African conglomerate, made a significant donation to CURE International to support the fight against COVID-19 in four African countries.

The $437,500 donation will be allocated to Mozambique ($200,000), Zambia ($200,000), Kenya ($25,000), and Uganda ($12,500) to purchase essential medical equipment, including personal protective equipment (PPE), ventilators, and PCR machines.

CURE International, a non-profit organization with a long history in the region, will use the donation to purchase 80,000 pieces of PPE, three ventilators, and one PCR machine. The organization will also facilitate the transfer of PPE to the Ministries of Health in Mozambique and Zambia.

Commenting on the partnership, Rikin Shah, CEO of JCG, said, 'In times of crisis, it is often the most marginalized that are forgotten. And it is thanks to organizations like CURE, that those in society who most need a helping hand are not left behind in the coronavirus pandemic.'

According to Peter Kyalo, CURE International's Chief of Programs, 'Children living with disabilities are not the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. But they risk being among the biggest victims. They were already marginalized before this pandemic and COVID-19 has just made it worse for them.'

Janus Continental Group has a long history of philanthropy and has been working with partners on the ground across East and Southern Africa to support their efforts in mitigating the spread of coronavirus.
