On August 24, 2020, a bitter exchange erupted between Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Suna East MP Junet Muhamed over allegations of looting at Kemsa.
ODM party leader Raila Odinga had earlier issued a statement calling for investigations into the matter to reveal the truth, seemingly shifting his position after his party accused the media of overblowing the issue.
Deputy President Dr. William Ruto later accused the Odinga-led party of joining the government through a handshake to loot, labeling them the 'Lords of corruption.'
Junet, however, supported Raila's take on Twitter, asserting that ODM stands for an exhaustive audit that produces incontrovertible evidence to make a watertight case against anyone found culpable.
Murkomen was quick to respond, telling Junet to resign and 'expect to be arrested' together with his colleagues over the Kemsa loot.
'We are calling for your resignation and immediate arrest as you await your fellow suppliers to meet you in court,' Murkomen said.
He also accused ODM of acting busy, stating that the party had already issued two statements on the matter while the Jubilee party, in power, had yet to say anything.
'It is so strange that there is no Jubilee leader in the National Assembly or Senate who has come out to defend the Kemsa Covid-19 heist, Not even Tuju,' Murkomen added.
