On August 23, 2020, Paris Saint Germain (PSG) suffered a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League final in Lisbon, Portugal.
However, the defeat was not the only consequence for the French capital. Paris police were attacked and shops in the city were vandalised overnight, according to French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin.
"The savagery of certain delinquents from last night: 16 members of the police forces injured, 12 shops attacked, around 15 cars vandalised," Darmanin wrote on Twitter.
Clashes between PSG fans and police had already occurred earlier on Sunday, with supporters throwing projectiles at police vehicles outside PSG's Parc des Princes stadium. The situation was dispersed with tear gas, as shown in video footage on social media.
