Kenyan music sensation Willis Chimano of Sauti Sol has spoken candidly about his introverted childhood, revealing the challenges he faced in making friends.

Speaking on the 'Engage' platform, where people share their life stories, Chimano shared a glimpse into his upbringing, describing it as 'very loving' with a strong emphasis on education.

'My parents ensured that my three siblings and I had what we needed to get through life,' he said, highlighting the importance of education in their household.

Chimano also revealed that his parents were strict about their Christian conservative beliefs, with regular prayer sessions and a strong sense of community.

'Woe unto you if you came late or felt like not fellowshipping,' he recalled, emphasizing the expectations placed on him and his siblings.

However, despite the supportive environment, Chimano struggled to make friends due to his introverted nature.

'Growing up, I felt like an awkward child, making friends felt like a laborious task,' he admitted, confessing that he often preferred watching other kids play rather than joining in.

As he progressed to high school, Chimano remained a subdued child, focused on achieving good grades and attending university.

It wasn't until his music career with Sauti Sol started gaining momentum that he found fulfillment.

Chimano also used the opportunity to express his views on fashion, stating that his style is about challenging toxic masculinity.

Ultimately, Chimano has no regrets about his life choices or his introverted personality, which he believes allows him to think, create, and retain his energy.

'Talking is like a job,' he said, 'I have no regrets, I love being in my own thoughts.'
