On August 24, 2020, Chinese smartphone brand vivo unveiled its latest smartphone, the vivo Y30, in the Kenyan market.
The device is now available for purchase through e-commerce platform Jumia Kenya, with whom vivo Kenya has partnered to make the device exclusively available.
According to vivo Kenya, the move aims to increase its footprint in the Kenyan market.
The vivo Y30 is priced at Kshs 17,000, lower than its price in other foreign markets, and is set to compete with other vivo Y-series devices available locally, including the vivo Y12, Y15, Y17, and Y19.
The vivo Y30 features a 6.47-inch HD+ LCD panel with a cutout for the 8-megapixel selfie camera, a 5,000mAh battery unit, and runs on FunTouch OS, a custom Android operating system.
At this price point, the vivo Y30 will compete with other affordable smartphones in the local market, including the Redmi Note 9 and the Infinix Note 7.
