Published on August 24, 2020, Kellyanne Conway has resigned as Senior Counsel to the White House after serving the position for four years, making her a highly influential figure in President Donald Trump's administration.
According to her statement, Mrs. Conway stepped down to focus on her children, saying she wanted to provide them with 'less drama, more mama'. Her husband, George Conway, also announced that he would stand down from political activism.
Despite being a key figure in President Trump's success in the 2016 elections, Mrs. Conway has been a controversial icon, accused of covering up the Trump administration's immigration restrictions and promoting Ivanka Trump's clothing line during a live interview.
Her resignation comes hours after her daughter Claudia took to Twitter to express her frustration with her mother's job, saying it had ruined her life and was all about 'money and fame'.
As a result of her resignation, there are uncertainties about whether Mrs. Conway will speak at the Republican National Convention later this week.
Mr. Conway, on the other hand, has been a vocal critic of President Trump, co-founding the Lincoln Project, a Republican political action committee aimed at thwarting the president's re-election.
Mr. Conway has publicly disrespected President Trump, calling him 'incompetent', and in response, the president called him a 'stone-cold loser'.
