Published on August 24, 2020, a tragic incident has shaken the community in Meru County. A 22-year-old woman is fighting for her life at Kenyatta National Hospital after being shot by her boyfriend, a police officer.
Constable David Nyamweya, the suspect, is on the run after the Saturday incident. According to reports, he summoned the woman to Laare Police station, where he shot her in the mouth after an altercation outside the canteen.
Despite being disarmed, Nyamweya managed to escape as his colleagues attended to the woman. The motive behind the shooting remains unknown.
