Published on August 24, 2020, Kenya is now marketing the simultaneous occurrence of the Wildebeest Migration in the Maasai Mara and the Whale Migration in the coastal region as a unique natural tourism experience.

Dubbed the 'Twin migration', tourists can now witness both migrations, which take place on land and in the ocean.

According to Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala, the 'Twin migration' positions Kenya as the go-to destination for both safari and beach experiences.

Every year, Humpback whales migrate 4,000 kilometres from Antarctica to warmer climates, congregating in Kenyan waters between July and August to calve and mate.

The Kenya Tourism Board intends to market the two experiences together, giving visitors the chance to enjoy the alternative natural experiences.
