On August 17, the National Executive Council of Ford Kenya made the decision to expel Tongaren MP Eseli Simiyu, Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi, and Busia nominated MCA Cynthia Mutere.

However, the party's Kakamega County branch has come out in opposition to this decision, urging Wetang'ula to reverse it immediately.

Branch Chairman Abel Mutimba and Vice-Chairman Aggrey Mukana argued that the decision was ill-advised and would only exacerbate the party's current challenges.

‘The party is at the centre of a storm and we would not like to do things that could exacerbate the situation,’ said Mutimba.
