On Saturday, August 24, 2020, Ida Odinga, the wife of ODM leader Raila Odinga, celebrated her 70th birthday in style at her home in Karen, Nairobi.
The event was attended by who-is-who in the political arena, including Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, Senate Minority Leader and Siaya Senator James Orengo, and Central Organisation of Trade Unions Secretary General Francis Atwoli.
President Uhuru Kenyatta's brother Muhoho was also present, although the President himself did not attend the event. He sent a congratulatory message to Ida instead.
Other notable attendees included former Nairobi Speaker Beatrice Elachi, former presidential hopeful Peter Kenneth, and former Cabinet Minister Dr Paul Otuoma.
Ida, born on August 24, 1950, expressed her gratitude to the guests, saying, “I feel so good at 70.” She also reflected on her journey, stating, “It has been tough but with hope and God’s blessings, I have made it this far.”
Ida's 70th birthday celebration was a testament to her enduring influence in Kenyan politics, with many guests praising her for her selflessness and dedication to the nation.
As the night went on, Ida took to the dance floor, dancing to the song Give It To Me by Akothee, featuring Nigerian artiste Flavour. The event was a joyous celebration of Ida's life and legacy.
