Published on August 23, 2020, CRBC has teamed up with County Health authorities in Kiambu to enforce regulations aimed at flattening the curve of COVID-19 in the project area.
Project Manager Eric Yu revealed that among the measures put in place are sensitization, public health measures including handwashing and wearing face masks.
“CRBC has mounted banners with safety messaging in strategic locations to enhance sensitization among project staff, local community, and road users,” Yu said.
CRBC introduced these measures in January and has seen positive results, with compliance levels reaching 100% among staff.
However, the company has expressed concerns over the slow pace of relocating power lines, with only 3% of electricity amenities successfully moved so far.
Kenya Power attributed the delay to land disputes resulting from compensation delays, but Yu hopes that the National Land Commission's recent mapping and gazettement will resolve the issue within the next three weeks.
The Western by Pass project, once completed, will feature a two-lane dual carriageway and link the Southern bypass at Gitaru and the Northern bypass in Ruaka.
