COVID-19 Update: 246 New Cases, 217 Recoveries in Kenya

On August 23, 2020, the Ministry of Health announced that 246 people had tested positive for COVID-19, out of 4,179 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

Among the new cases, 157 were males and 89 were females, with the youngest case being a one-year-old infant and the oldest being 87 years old.

Notably, all the new cases were Kenyans, except for eight foreigners.

The Ministry of Health also reported that 217 patients had recovered from the disease, with 178 being from the Home-Based Care program and 39 having been discharged from various hospitals.

With this update, the total number of recoveries now stands at 18,670, while the total number of fatalities remains at 548.

The new cases were reported in various counties, including Nairobi (78 cases), Kajiado (24 cases), Kiambu (22 cases), and Nakuru (20 cases).
