On August 23, 2020, Airtel announced a partnership with MoneyGram, a US-based cash transfer platform, to enable its subscribers to send and receive money globally.
The deal, which is subject to regulatory approvals from the Communication Authority of Kenya (CAK), will allow Airtel users to access the MoneyGram platform from over 200 destinations worldwide.
MoneyGram already has partnerships with other mobile operators, including Safaricom in Kenya and Tanzania, Ecocash in Zimbabwe, Vodafone cash in various countries, Airtel Tigo Money in Ghana, and MTN momo in Ghana.
