Manchester United fans will be thrilled to hear that Cristiano Ronaldo is involved in the opening of a luxury hotel in the city centre. The 35-year-old Portuguese footballer is remembered fondly by Manchester United fans for his six years at Old Trafford, where he helped the team win three Premier League titles and a Champions League.
The Pestana CR7 hotel, which is set to open in 2023, will be a 4-star hotel with 151 bedrooms, a ground floor bar and cafe, a gym, and a roof terrace. The hotel will be located on the corner of Piccadilly and Newton Street, subject to planning permission.
Announcing the news on their website, Pestana said: "It couldn’t be more appropriate - after all, this is the city where Cristiano Ronaldo started his international career in Man United back in 2003 and where he first used number 7."
The planning application states that the redevelopment of the site will make a positive contribution towards the growing demand of the city’s hotel sector and will be commercially viable through the introduction of a sensitively designed new hotel building.
"The redevelopment of the site represents an important step towards delivering the full regeneration potential and agglomeration impacts of the Northern Quarter," the application adds.
