On August 21, 2020, a worrying incident occurred in Kinoo, Kiambu County, where ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale's vehicle was broken into.
Etale, who had visited a friend in the area, reported that his vehicle's alarm did not go off, indicating that the break-in was carefully orchestrated.
"I had left my laptop, two phones, a wallet, my medical covers, ATM cards, and all of them were stolen. I feel so bad," Etale disclosed.
Etale has since reported the matter to the Kinoo police station, and investigations have been launched.
According to section 322 of the penal code, a person who handles stolen goods is guilty of a felony and is liable to imprisonment with hard labor.
Notably, this incident comes at a time when there has been a surge in reported cases of theft in Nairobi and its environs, with some suspects caught in the act by CCTV cameras.
Just two months prior, police officers in Mombasa County arrested nine suspects believed to be part of a gang involved in car break-ins and theft.
