On Saturday, August 21, residents of Thika Town woke up to find three statues missing from the Central Business District.
A video that surfaced later showed the woman responsible for the destruction, who appeared to be shouting inaudibly as she posed menacingly with the figures in the middle of the road.
According to a journalist based in Thika, the incident occurred on Friday evening, and the woman seemed to be suffering from some mental distress.
Her actions have sparked concerns about mental health, an issue that has emerged with the Covid-19 pandemic. The Ministry of Health has emphasized the importance of mental health, with CAS Rashid Aman stating that the pandemic has caused enormous health, socioeconomic, and psychological impact on the population.
