On August 22, 2020, the ODM party issued a statement regarding corruption allegations at the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA). The allegations centered around the procurement and handling of Covid-19 protective gear.

According to the statement, the ODM party had restrained from responding to the allegations due to their desire to comment from an informed position. However, they expressed concern over the DCI's investigation into the matter before a credible audit by the Auditor General was carried out.

The party noted that the prices of PPEs were likely to be higher due to the global pandemic, and that higher prices alone should not be a basis for doubting the probity of those involved in the procurement process.

ODM also criticized a statement made by the Deputy President, which they deemed juvenile and improper. The statement suggested that it was okay for funds to be stolen if the Deputy President was not to blame.

The party emphasized the importance of responsible media coverage, urging media houses to exercise restraint in their reporting to avoid compromising international support for the country's Covid-19 response.

ODM Secretary General, Hon. Edwin Sifuna, concluded the statement by thanking the audience and reiterating the party's commitment to fulfilling its mandate as a unifying agent in Kenyan politics.
