Kenya Records 355 More COVID-19 Cases, 10 Deaths

On August 22, 2020, Kenya's Health Cabinet Secretary, Mutahi Kagwe, announced that the country had recorded 355 more COVID-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 32,118.

Of the 355 cases tested, 213 were male and 142 were female, with the youngest case being a 2-year-old and the oldest aged 81 years.

According to the Health Ministry, Nairobi is still leading in terms of distribution by counties, with 118 cases. Other counties with significant cases include Mombasa (25), Nakuru (25), Kiambu (23), and Kajiado (20).

At the same time, 296 patients were discharged from hospital, bringing the total number of recoveries to 18,453. Of these, 202 were from the home-based program and 94 from various hospitals.

Regrettably, 10 more patients succumbed to the disease, bringing the total number of fatalities to 542.

Operations at the Nandi County Assembly were suspended after one of the Members of County Assembly, Kipkurui Chepkwony, tested positive for COVID-19.
