On Saturday, a fuel tanker overturned and caught fire on the notorious Kericho-Kisumu highway, leaving the fate of the driver and turn-boy uncertain.
According to eyewitness Edith Chepkemoi, the accident occurred at around 3pm, with thick black smoke billowing into the sky.
‘Firefighters are yet to arrive at the scene. I can’t tell if the driver and the turn boys managed to escape from the burning vehicle,’ Chepkemoi said.
Kericho County Police Commander dispatched traffic officers to the scene and was awaiting their report.
The incident has caused a significant traffic disruption, with only daredevil motorists attempting to drive by the smouldering tanker.
