On Saturday, a fuel tanker truck caught fire after overturning on the Kericho-Kisumu highway, leaving its fate and the safety of its occupants uncertain.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver lost control of the vehicle at a steep blackspot, causing it to overturn and burst into flames.
Thick black smoke rose into the sky, causing a traffic snarl-up and forcing only dare-devil motorists to drive by the smouldering tanker.
Edith Chepkemoi, a witness, reported that the incident occurred at around 3pm on Saturday, adding that firefighters had yet to arrive at the scene.
The Kericho County Police Commander dispatched traffic officers to the scene and was awaiting their report.
