On May 23, a reckless boda-boda rider, John Mankura, hit motorist James Chege Mwangi while riding against traffic on Langata Link Road in Nairobi.
His pillion passenger, Saul Nabwela, suffered grievous injuries in the incident.
Police investigations established that the motorcycle and car involved in the accident did not have any mechanical problems prior to the incident, and that the incident was due to the rider's recklessness.
Mr Mankura pleaded guilty to all charges before Chief Magistrate Abdul Lorot of the Kibera Law Courts.
He was fined Sh70,000, with an option to serve five months in jail in default.
Magistrate Lorot also ordered Mr Mankura to pay Sh50,000 for reckless driving, and Sh10,000 for each of the other two offences, with the alternative of one month in jail for each one.
