On August 21, 2020, a court in Isiolo will make a ruling on an application by a group of contractors to have Finance Executive Abdinassir Hajj Daud and chief officer Peter Ngechu committed to civil jail for failing to pay Sh83 million in pending bills.

The contractors, who were hired by the former Isiolo County government, claim that the county failed to commit to an agreement sealed in August 2019, which required payment of Sh80 million by December 15 and the remaining Sh83 million by September 15, 2020.

According to the contractors, payment started in March 2020 instead of December, resulting in accrued interest of at least Sh4 million.

The services for which payment is required include foodstuff supply, hiring of transport and security, and construction.

Isiolo County has linked the payment hitches to figure differences between the auditor general and a county taskforce, which were to be reconciled before payment.
